Mild Purgation

Purgation is a natural way to eliminate amma (toxins) from the tissues of the body, as well as the colon.

Treatments such as abhaganya and other oleations are applied with the purpose of loosening toxins from the cells and directing them into the colon. After 7, 14 or 21 days of external or internal oleation, your practitioner may suggest special herbs for your dosha to induce purgation.

You do not need to have panchakarma to do purgation. As a matter of fact, it is very healthy to fast and do purgation once a month, giving your system a break. Your body will be refreshed, your immune system will be alleviated and your digestive fire will be renewed.

$50 for a consultation with the medicine
$20 if you are doing a week treatment or more

Sneha Karma (Medicated ghee)

Ayurveda is all about oils. It is about understanding that the application of oils, internally and externally, nourishes the body while softening the toxins in the tissues.

When you adopt the Ayurvedic lifestyle, medicated ghee is taken everyday early in the morning to supply oleation to the gums and digestive system. Internal oleation aids in poor digestion, promotes memory, intelligence and the quantity and quality of semen. The Dosha Balance says that ghee harbors phenolic antioxidants, which boosts the immune system.

Vasty (localised treatment)

This treatment is very effective. It uses warm, medicated oil in a local area to help release toxins. It can be an extremely beneficial treatment for back pain, sciatica, slipped disc, as well as neurological and degenerative bone diseases. This treatment can be done in different locations on the body. It can be done anywhere on the back, depending on where the pain or discomfort is. It can also be done on your knees, helping to strengthen the bone and prevent stiffness or joint pain.

Shiro Abhyanga (Head Massage)

The head is where our eyes, ears, nose, tongue and, most importantly, our mind is. This massage is great for all of the sense organs. There are many different types of oils you can use, for different purposes. The most commonly used oil is Ksheerabala, which is a great general oil for all of the sense organs and vital spots.

The benefits of receiving this massage are:

Relaxed body and mind
Helps headaches, baldness and other head problems
Helps strengthen hair, including the colour and shine
Soothes head and sense organs
Improves blood circulation
Drains toxins
Relieves stiffness and tension from the head
Promotes sound sleep and happiness

Mukhabhyanga (face massage)

This treatment can be applied with a herbal oil or paste, depending on your body type and what would be most beneficial for you.

There are a number of benefits of receiving this treatment, including: relaxes the face, prevents sagging of the skin, removes facial toxins, retains overall youth and vitality, improves eyesight and sense organs, nourishes and improves skin complexion, maintains a clean and healthy face, and improves sleep. This treatment is most beneficial as an added massage before or after another treatment.

I am always amazed at how tense our faces can get throughout the day. We don't notice how affected we are by our surroundings; it eventually becomes normal to receive so much stimulation, and our faces get used to being tense. This treatment will help release that tension. Many people expect a change right after receiving treatment, but as with all Auyrvedic treatments, you will see the biggest change if you do it for an extended period of time (either 7, 14 or 21 days.)

Panchakarma The Science of Ayurveda

Ayurveda, which literally means the knowledge of life is the traditional healing
science of India. Viewing disease as the natural end result of living out of
harmony with our environment, Ayurveda emphasizes re-establishing harmony
and balance as the means of recreating a state of optimal health in our bodies and
minds.

While Ayurvedic methods utilize many therapies including herbs, diet,
aromatherapy, colour therapy, mantras, yoga, meditation and general lifestyle
counseling, the most profound of all treatments is that of Pancha Karma.
